Techies – Do you know if you are being paid correctly?

Most salaries in today’s world are determined by market forces. Market forces are opaque and known only to few folks and never known to the job seeker.

Job seekers, however, have access to job portals who provide a very rudimentary form of a salary estimate, but again across a varied/wide subset of people.

Average salary is for average people. In today’s world of personalized everything, salary continues to be generic.

Most organizations work with average salary bands determined by their HR department based on these generic values. These are not real-time and change only once a year and very rarely twice a year.

People tend to get frustrated by these once a year moves and this leads to attrition.
